IIn the name of Allah, most gracious, most merciful, may peace and blessings be upon Prophet Mohammed. Thank God that his grace is righteous. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the people of my Abdullatif Al-hamad University and Northern State.
They say that a thousand-mile journey begins with a single step. The university is just beginning its journey and making its first steps in 2015. The idea of developing the university came about as part of the Merowe Dam project, with the aim of improving the area. There are a number of projects in the area, such as Merowe Medical City, Merowe Airport and Merowe Technical College (which is now the university). All of these initiatives made the establishment of the university a necessity; a way of continuing the progress being made in the area. We started the university with the departments of Medicine, Engineering, Business Administration, Aviation Administration, Technology and Social Sciences. In the future we are looking forward to expanding this further. My message to the community is that the graduates of our university will go on to help and improve the local area. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Merowe Dam, the state government and the National Council for Technical Learning. They were all responsible for helping complete the university. I would also like to thank all of the university councils for their advice and support. Praise and thanks to Allah.
